Custom Packaging Machines and Integrated Systems

Some products need more than a standard machine. Mactec has offered custom machine engineering since 2013, and our in-house design engineers work directly with you and your end customer.

Two ways we customize

• Adapt a proven platform. Start from a Mactec blister, pouch or rotary monoblock machine and customize the tooling, feeding and workflow for your product.
• Engineer a new machine. When no platform fits, our engineers design a machine for your product case by case.

What we can build in

• Feeding and placement for tablets, capsules, liquids, powders, devices and multiple products in one package.
• Printing and inspection, including in-line coding of lot and expiration data, vision presence checks and pinhole detection, configured for each project. UDI printing and print verification (OCR/OCV) are reviewed for each project.
• Integration with robotics and equipment you already use, such as a cartoner. For steps outside our platforms, such as tablet counting, capping, labeling or specialty insertion, we coordinate specialist suppliers and deliver one engineered solution.
• Space and utility constraints, with compact, mobile machines that need only electrical power and compressed air.

Custom projects we have delivered

• Two components, one blister, fully inspected. Two MT-150 machines formed coldform deep-draw blisters holding a testing vial and a desiccant pouch, with pinhole detection and vision presence checks. Both passed the customer’s factory acceptance test at Mactec.
• A two-liquid burst pouch in one step. A vertical pouch machine filled two cavities with different liquids, and a horizontal pouch machine placed that pouch in its final package, producing a ready-to-use package in one step.
• Two products, one pouch. An MTVP-200 with two rotary disk feeders and dedicated hoppers dosed two different products into the same pouch, with the quantity of each set by the operator.

Applications we are engineering now

• Small-vial tablet lines: counting, vial handling, capping and labeling for very small pharmaceutical vials.
• Compact blister equipment for laboratories with tight access limits, such as controlled-atmosphere rooms.
• Medical-device pouching with variable lot and expiry printing before sterilization, built for manual loading now and more automation later.
• Automated tube filling, sealing and coding to replace manual processes in clinical manufacturing.
• Multi-lane stick-pack and flow-wrap packaging with registered pre-printed film.
