What is a blister packaging machine?
A blister packaging machine seals each tablet, capsule, dose or small device in its own pocket, called a cavity, and closes it with lidding to make a blister card. A form-fill-seal blister machine does the whole job on one machine. It forms the cavities from a roll of film (thermoforming) or foil (cold forming), fills them by hand or with an automatic feeder, seals the lidding, then perforates and cuts the cards. A blister sealer does only the last step, sealing blisters that are already formed and loaded. Pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, medical-device and lab teams use them for unit-dose packs, clinical and stability batches, and package prototypes. A small batch does not need a production line. Start with the MT Tabletop Blister Sealer to seal prepared blisters for stability samples and package prototypes: a 304 × 355 mm bench footprint on 650 watts, 110 VAC, 50/60 Hz. Move to the MT100 when the machine should form, fill, seal, perforate and cut: a 1752 × 711 mm floor footprint on 110 VAC at 15 amps. Step up to the MT150 for a 150 mm × 150 mm forming area and small-to-medium batches: 4153 × 1092.2 mm on 220 VAC, 3 phase at 25 amps.

Types of blister packaging machines
A blister sealing machine seals a blister that is already formed and loaded; the MT Tabletop Blister Sealer handles that step for low-volume, laboratory and manual work. A form-fill-seal blister machine forms the cavities from a roll of film, fills them, seals the lidding, then perforates and cuts the cards; the MT100 (compact, for laboratory, R&D, clinical and small runs) and the MT150 (small-to-medium production) do this with thermoforming or cold forming: as thermoforming machines, they heat the forming film and shape the cavities on the machine itself. Semi-automatic or automatic blister packing machine?
Start with how much of the work the machine should do. The MT Tabletop Blister Sealer is a blister sealing machine with manual loading: an operator loads blisters that are already formed and filled, and the machine seals them. The MT100 and MT150 are blister card packaging machines that form, fill, seal, perforate and cut on one machine. With an operator placing the product in each cavity, they run as semi-automatic blister packaging equipment; with an automatic feeder, they run as a fully automatic blister packing machine. Manual or automatic filling is selected for your product.
Each package format needs its own tooling. The MT100 and MT150 take change tooling for the formats in your proposal, and the tabletop sealer uses removable seal dies and tool-less change parts. Tooling changes are designed to be quick, often taking minutes, depending on the machine, the tooling and the product.

What determines the cost of a blister packaging machine?
Two machines with the same model name can be very different purchases. The price moves with how the product gets into the blister (an operator placing each item, or automatic feeders), the number of cavities made per cycle, the tooling set for each package format, thermoforming or cold forming, printing and coding, inspection and rejection, conveyors and integration, and the validation documentation you need. A tabletop sealer handles the sealing step only; a form-fill-seal machine also forms and fills the package, so the two are not priced for the same work.
